Learn to Swim

France - various cities - 20.01 - 20.06.2014

With the Foundation’s support, the four French cities of Capbreton, Montpellier, Dinard and Rennes benefitted in the first half of 2014 from a Learn to Swim programme.
With the collaboration of the Fédération Française de Sauvetage et de Secourisme (French Federation of Rescue and Lifesaving) these programmes were run by the local cities’ rescue and lifesaving associations respectively – Capbreton Sauvetage Côtier, Aqualove, Association des Sauveteurs de la Côte d’Emeraude et Breizh Sauvetage Côtier.
A total of 350 children aged 4 to 8 years old from disadvantaged backgrounds participated in the programme which taught them basic swimming skills to prevent drowning should they accidentally fall into deep water.
Each session was concluded with a ceremony where all the participating children received a certificate of achievement.
