Drowning prevention workshops for the participants of the Saint Devote Rugby Tournament - 10.05.2019

On the side-lines of the Saint Devote Rugby Tournament, HSH Princess Charlene was keen to offer drowning prevention workshops to the teams arriving prior to the event.

Consequently, young players from South Africa, Mauritius and the USA met at the Louis II Stadium swimming pool on Friday 10th May.

The workshops, organised by the Princess Charlene of Monaco Foundation, with the support of Pierre Frolla – four-time world record holder in free diving and Ambassador of the Princess Charlene of Monaco Foundation – and the Monaco Red Cross, gave the children the opportunity to learn about water safety and first aid techniques.

This operation is part of the South Africa – Monaco Rugby Exchange whose purpose is to promote exchange between rugby players from the two countries who have joined this year, the Americans and Mauritians.

Some top players from Toulon came to support this operation. The South African rugby union player Mr. Marcel van der Merwe, the South African World Champion Mr. JP Pietersen, the New Zealander world champion Mr. Julian Savea  and his compatriot Mr. Liam Justin Messam, and the Welsh international rugby union player Mr. Rhys Webb exchanged views with the young rugby players.
