Learn to Swim to Save Lives in Senegal - 2017 results

For the fourth consecutive year the Princess Charlene of Monaco Foundation has supported a “Learn to Swim” project in Senegal known as Learn to swim to save lives in Senegal. It is partnered with La Maison du Rugby (the House of Rugby) and receives technical support from the Senegalese Swimming and Lifesaving Federation.

In 2017, 925 children aged 5 to 16 learned to swim and how to be safe in and around the water, 20 adults were trained to be swim and water safety instructors and two scholarships were given to top Senegalese swimmers.

The prize giving ceremony took place on 27 December 2017 at the National Olympic Swimming Pool of Dakar. The children demonstrated the swim techniques they had recently acquired. The project continues in 2018.
