Thailand - Collaboration with "Swimsafe Sharks"

Since 2014, the Princess Charlene of Monaco Foundation has worked with “Swimsafe Sharks” association in charge of drowning prevention in Thailand.

In the province of Chanthaburi, 1,795 children took part in the activities between October 2017 and October 2018. They participated in water safety workshops with the "Thai Life Saving Society". These programmes are designed to give them training for rescue and survival techniques. Teaching is both theoretical and practical combining courses in classes and exercises in the pool.

All students continue and perfect their skills with the drowning prevention booklet entitled "Survival Swimmimg Curriculum Handbook for Thai Schools”.

A wide range of water safety topics have been covered during the year: dangers at home, the monsoon floods, dangers at the ocean and deadly aquatic life in Thailand.

In addition 6 trainers were also instructed to coach the children through the survival swimming curriculum.
