The Princess Charlene of Monaco Foundation and the Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI) started working together in 2014. RNLI, along with local partner the Panje Project, continued working tirelessly throughout 2017 reaching children in new areas of Zanzibar as well as on nearby Pemba Island.

During that time they taught 2,090 children how to swim and trained 21 new swim instructors. They also trained 508 teachers to be water safety instructors who went on to teach 101,700 children water safety messages in their respective schools.

This project picked back up in 2018 and reported mid-year having taught 728 children to swim and trained 4 new swim teachers. They have also been able to train up 416 teachers to deliver water safety messages in their schools and have reached almost 22,000 children by end June 2018.
