Cape Town wins the Saint Devote Rugby Tournament - 18.03.2017




TSH Prince Albert and Princess Charlene, accompanied by HSH Princess Gabriella, attended the "Saint Devote Tournament" organised by the Monegasque Rugby Federation with the support of the Princess Charlene of Monaco Foundation.

15 U12 (under 12) teams from 11 countries took part in the competition at the Louis II Stadium in Monaco.

Cape Town (South Africa) competed in the final against Lausanne (Swiss) and won the tournament. The South African team, was invited as part of the "South Africa - Monaco Rugby Exchange", one of the Princess Charlene of Monaco Foundation’s flagship projects in its "Sport and Education" programme.
 
The Saint Devote Trophy was awarded to Monaco.

A programme called "Tots Rugby", which initiated children 3 to 5 years old to the sport, also took place and provided educational workshops and competitions adapted to their age group. The day-long event successfully celebrated friendship and interaction.
 
The children were encouraged by Andrew Sheridan, English international winner of the European Cup 2013 and 2014, and by Esteban Lozada, former Captain of the RC Toulon and Argentinian international.
