Water Safety

« Water Safety Introduction » at the Aquatic Rescue Center of Monaco – 21.09.2016

On 21 September 2016 the non-for-profit associations Rouge et Blanc Project and Harlekin, sponsored by The High Life Monaco, organised a drowning prevention event with the objective of reaching children 10 years and older.  Entitled “Water Safety Introduction”, it took place at the Aquatic Rescue Center of Monaco (CSAM) with the support of the Princess Charlene of Monaco Foundation.

During the event the children learned how to be safe in and around the water. The lessons were conducted by Pierre Frolla, quadruple world record holder in free diving, Director of the CSAM and Ambassador to the Princess Charlene of Monaco Foundation, along with his team.

After a discussion about the values that sport can offer such as team spirit, modesty and cooperation, the children participated in different activities.

The warm up was followed by a beach flags exercise.  Then after that, the children learned how to use rescue boards:  find the right position, learn how to balance on them and move quickly in the water with the goal of saving a life.  And finally the children participated in a relay race putting their newfound skills to use.

After all that hard work, the day ended with a hearty snack.

The funds raised were donated to the Harlekin Association in order to benefit the Pediatric Unit of the Princess Grace Hospital Center of Monaco.
