Water Safety

« Drugarijada » in Brzece, Serbia, 16-21 September 2018

The week-long camp “Drugarijada” (“Friendship Games”) is organized by the Novak Djokovic Foundation annually. This year it took place from 16-21 September at the Hotel Junior in the mountainous area of Brzece, Serbia. The Princess Charlene of Monaco Foundation proudly supported this project for the 4th time.

“Friendship games”, which welcomed 130 children and 18 school teachers, is a camp for children from socially disadvantaged municipalities of Serbia and is organized so that these children have an opportunity to socialize, spend quality time in an outdoor, healthy and natural setting, participate in educational workshops and exercises, while also learning to preserve nature and develop environmental awareness. Its goal is to promote true values such as friendship, fair-play, and healthy lifestyle. It also enables children to form new friendships with their peers from other parts of Serbia which aid in further learning about the traditions of people from other parts of the country.

The Camp also holds drowning prevention and water safety workshops which includes learning how to behave in and around the water, what to do if they accidentally fall into water, how to assist someone who may be in trouble, and how to protect themselves from sun exposure.

The children were able to learn while having fun. The “Friendship Games” offered them unforgettable memories which will stay with them throughout their lives.
