Princess Charlene Rally – 06.04.2018

The Princess Charlene Rally – organised by Monaco’s Department of Education, Youth and Sport in collaboration with the Princess Charlene of Monaco Foundation, Peace and Sport, the APEM (Parent-Teacher Association of Monaco) and the Monegasque Anti-Doping Comity – is aimed at 9th grade students from the schools in Monaco.
Celebrated as part of the International Day of Sport for Development and Peace declared on April 6 by the UN General Assembly and the International Olympic Committee, the 5th edition of the Princess Charlene Rally gathered 400 students from Collège Charles III, Collège FANB and Lycée Technique et Hotelier – SEGPA section.
80 teams took part in a timed running race and three workshops : a sports competition (1,200 metres on a rowing machine), a teamwork-based event (using stretchers to bring victims to safety at the Aquatic Rescue Center of Monaco) and lastly an intellectual challenge (multiple choice test questions).
The gymnast Kevin Crovetto, Gold and Bronze medallist at the Games of the Small States of Europe and the motorbike pilot Adrien Maré, bajas (rally raid) Word Champion 2015, shared their experience with the teenagers during a conference. They notably came back to their participation in competitions: the 2016 Rio Olympic Games for Kevin and Dakar in 2018 for Adrien.
A drawing workshop allowed each team to express its perception of this day through an artistic creation.
The Princess Charlene Rally teaches children the values of sport:  team spirit, respect, solidarity, the appreciation of hard work and cooperation.
In order to commemorate the occasion, the event concluded with a symbolic “#White Card” souvenir picture.
