Water Safety

Kribi Project - Cameroon

The Princess Charlene Foundation of Monaco supports the "Kribi Project 2020" implemented by the Royal Life Saving Society of Cameroon, an association that supervises lifesaving and offers lifeguard training in the country.

The aim of this project is to raise awareness of water safety among young people, and to train volunteers in drowning prevention and first aid in the coastal town of Kribi in Cameroon, which records many cases of drowning each year.

By teaching them how to become lifesaving instructors and certifying them in lifesaving and CPR techniques, teenagers and young adults of Kribi will have the opportunity to work in swimming pools and beaches.

In total, 50 instructors will be able to accompany 100 young people in their first lifesaving experiences, and will be able to reach more than 2000 schoolchildren from the surrounding neighbourhoods and villages.
