Training course for International Lifeguards - Burkina Faso – 24/29.06.2019

From the 24th to the 29th of June 2019, the Loumbila’s Multi-Purpose Centre swimming pool in Burkina Faso has hosted the first training course for International Lifeguards.

This project has been organized by the Burkina Lifesaving Federation (whose main goal is the development and promotion of sea rescue and first aid in Burkina Faso), with the support of the Monaco Red Cross and the Red Cross of Burkina Faso, as well as of the Princess Charlene of Monaco Foundation.
52 people have been supervised by the instructors of the Royal Moroccan Lifesaving Federation.

The programme’s aim is to form International Lifesavers (certified by the International Lifesaving Society) who, by the end of this course, will be able to pass their knowledge to future candidates aspiring to be International Lifeguards in their countries.

This project is the first of its kind in Burkina Faso. It should also allow the development of lifeguards in a country characterized by numerous water sources, which therefore often suffers from fatal floods.
