The Riviera Water Bike Challenge 2022<\/strong> was held on Sunday, June 5th in the presence of H.S.H. Prince Albert II, H.S.H. Hereditary Prince Jacques, and Princess Gabriella.<\/p>\n<\/div>

The start of the race was given by H.S.H. the Sovereign Prince at 10:10 am at the Yacht Club de Monaco<\/a><\/strong>. 19 water bikes departed in the Port of Monaco, to join the course off of the Solarium de la Digue Rainier III<\/strong> where the relay zones were located.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A total of 95 people participated in this race, including 41 sports celebrities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At the Solarium, the public was present in large numbers to cheer on the teams who cycled 22 laps under challenging conditions: heat, humidity, and swell.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Team Serenity<\/strong> won this edition of the Riviera Water Bike Challenge, crossing the finish line at the Yacht Club after more than 2h50 of pedalling. Team Serenity consisted of Mr. Gareth Wittstock, Secretary General of the Princess Charlene of Monaco Foundation, Terence Parkin, Ambassador of the Foundation, Caleb Ewan, Philip Deignan and David Tanner.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Team A&S Estate<\/strong> finished 2nd (with Edgard John Augustin aka Bionic Body and Greg Minnaar), and Team Interpadel<\/strong> (with Bj\u00f8rn Maaseide, Ambassador of the Foundation, Thor Hushovd and Federico Vella) completed the podium.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

H.S.H. Prince Albert II presented the trophy to the winning team.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mr. Patrice Cellario, Conseiller de Gouvernement – Minister of the Interior and Mr. Laurent Stefanini, Ambassador of France to Monaco, presented the trophies respectively to the 2nd and 3rd teams.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The goal of the Riviera Water Bike Challenge<\/strong> is to offer an original and friendly sporting challenge to raise funds for the prevention of drowning.  This year, the funds raised will finance the “Swim for Safety” project supported by the Princess Charlene of Monaco Foundation in Sri Lanka, to teach swimming and water safety to disadvantaged children.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The public could follow the race online, from start to finish, and make donations by voting for their favourite team.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
