Saturday, May 7th at the Stade Louis-II, was held the 10th edition of the Sainte D\u00e9vote Rugby Tournament<\/strong> organized by the Monegasque Rugby\u00a0Federation<\/a> <\/strong>in partnership with the Princess Charlene of Monaco Foundation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the presence of T.S.H. Prince Albert II and Princess Charlene<\/strong>, H.S.H. Hereditary Prince Jacques and H.S.H. Princess Gabriella, this international U-12 rugby 7 tournament welcomed 16 teams from 14 countries: Andorra, Belgium, United Arab Emirates, Ecuador, Spain, France, Georgia, Mauritius, Ireland, Italy,\u00a0 Luxembourg, Morocco, Monaco, Switzerland.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During the opening ceremony, the teams presented their colours and Terence James, French singer of Scottish origin, sang the Monegasque anthem.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Monegasque team was awarded the Sainte D\u00e9vote Trophy, which honours the winner of the match between the Monegasque Rugby Federation and the Rugby Club Lucciana.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

H.S.H. Princess Charlene congratulated all teams and warmly thanked them for their presence at this tournament.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After one day of competition, the Montpellier H\u00e9rault Rugby<\/strong> team won the international trophy after having won the final against the Apollo Perelini Rugby Skills Academy<\/strong> team from Dubai.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

H.S.H. Prince Albert II<\/strong> handed the trophy to the winning team and Mr. Gareth Wittstock, President of the Monegasque Rugby Federation and Secretary General of the Foundation, handed the trophy to the 2nd-placed team.
The tournament’s most valuable player, Sandro Garbajosa from the Montpellier team, was handed his trophy by Mr. Mathieu Bastareaud.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mr. Mathieu Bastareaud, ambassador of this 2022 edition, highlighted that this tournament is \u201cthe opportunity to bring together hundreds of children from different backgrounds and to share a wonderful moment around our sport”, reminding us of the main values of rugby: Sacrifice, Courage, Solidarity and Togetherness.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
