{"id":3435,"date":"2022-08-02T13:49:50","date_gmt":"2022-08-02T11:49:50","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.fondationprincessecharlene.mc\/projets\/seasafe-swimsafe"},"modified":"2023-01-09T11:59:20","modified_gmt":"2023-01-09T10:59:20","slug":"seasafe-swimsafe","status":"publish","type":"projets","link":"https:\/\/www.fondationprincessecharlene.mc\/en\/projets\/seasafe-swimsafe","title":{"rendered":"SeaSafe + SwimSafe"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>In Bangladesh, the Princess Charlene of Monaco Foundation has been supporting the SeaSafe and SwimSafe projects led by the <a href=\"https:\/\/rnli.org\"><strong>Royal National Lifeboat Institution<\/strong><\/a> (RNLI) and the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ciprb.org\/\"><strong>Centre for Injury Prevention and Research Bangladesh<\/strong><\/a> (CIPRB) for several years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The <strong>SeaSafe <\/strong>project, initiated in 2012, <strong>funds the training and day-to-day operations of the lifeguard network<\/strong> on the beach of Cox&#8217;s Bazar to ensure its safety throughout the year. This programme was a follow-up to the CIRPB&#8217;s drowning prevention and awareness-raising activities across the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The <strong>SwimSafe <\/strong>project complements this system, with the aim of <strong>teaching swimming<\/strong>, in the pool and at sea, to as many children as possible guaranteeing the safety at sea of local communities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:20px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Cox&#8217;s Bazar, a fishing<\/strong> port in southeastern Bangladesh, has a 120 km beach and is an important tourist destination. <strong>SeaSafe<\/strong>&#8216;s vision is to protect the coastal population through various community awareness actions and to reduce aquatic risks, including training for local lifeguards.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In 2014, the country&#8217;s first <strong>professional lifeguard service<\/strong> was launched, with full-time lifeguards established at 3 locations. This service has helped save more than 200 lives so far.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:20px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>In 2022, a new version of SwimSafe was born in the Barishal region: the <strong>BHASA project<\/strong> (which means &#8220;float&#8221; in Bengali).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Project goals: <\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>To train lifeguards to ensure the safety of Cox&#8217;s Bazar beach throughout the year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To train local lifeguards to teach swimming and ensure the safety of local communities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To teach swimming to children in schools and communities around Cox&#8217;s Bazar to reduce drowning risks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To reduce the number of fatal drownings of boys and girls under the age of 16 in Barishal and in the sub-districts of Taltoli, Betagi, and Kalapara.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"featured_media":2947,"parent":0,"template":"","category-programmes":[2,3],"class_list":["post-3435","projets","type-projets","status-publish","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-programmes-learn-to-swim","category-programmes-water-safety"],"acf":[],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v27.3 -
