A water safety day organized by the Princess Charlene of Monaco Foundation ahead of the Sainte Dévote Tournament

In the run-up to the Sainte Dévote Tournament, the Princess Charlene of Monaco Foundation organised a new edition of the “Water Safety” operation at the Stade Louis-II swimming pool.

In the presence of H.S.H. Princess Charlene, 108 children from all over the world (South Africa, Argentina, Ecuador, India, Mauritius, USA, Japan, Singapore, Zimbabwe) participated in a morning dedicated to drowning prevention.

Supervised by Pierre Frolla, Ambassador of the Foundation, and his team from the Monegasque Academy of the Sea, this session made it possible to raise children’s awareness of lifesaving actions, through a playful and educational approach to the aquatic world.

These children from the 9 international teams participating in the tournament took part in various workshops such as cardiopulmonary resuscitation, balloon games for non-swimmers, water rescue (pulling, tube buoys), waterpolo, water course, and diving activity.

Three “dry” workshops were also offered, led respectively by the Monegasque Red Cross, the Monegasque Anti-Doping Committee and the Monaco Olympic Athletes’ Association (AMAO).

For many children, this morning represented a first immersion in water rescue, in a safe, structured and caring environment. She fully embodies the mission of the Princess Charlene of Monaco Foundation, which is committed on an international scale to prevent drowning and promote the values of solidarity, education and sport. A key step to transmit the values of solidarity and security before stepping onto the rugby field.
