Building Capacity to Strengthen Community Action Against Drowning

Implemented in Tanzania in 2025, Building Capacity to Strengthen Community Action Against Drowning is a drowning prevention project led by The Panje Project. The initiative aims to reduce drowning risks in Zanzibar by improving survival swimming skills and strengthening water safety awareness among children, youth and adults.

Working in close collaboration with schools, local communities and education authorities, the project combines survival swimming lessons, water safety education and capacity building through the training of teachers and community members as swimming instructors, contributing to long-term community-based drowning prevention.
