The 2nd edition of the Water Safety Days took place in Calvi, Corsica

For the second year in a row, the Princess Charlene of Monaco Foundation organized the “Water Safety Days” in Calvi on Friday 10th and Saturday 11th June 2022, in partnership with the City of Calvi.

Activities in lifesaving, first aid and water safety initiations were held in the morning on the beach of Calvi, offered to the children of the city. These workshops were led by Pierre Frolla, Ambassador of the Foundation and four-time freediving world record holder and his team from the CSAPM – Académie Monégasque de la Mer, with the support of the SNSM (Société Nationale de Sauvetage en Mer) and the firefighters of Haute-Corse.

Entertaining and athletic, the workshops combine theory and practice: Inshore rope rescue, Rescue tubes, Nipper Boards, Drowning prevention and CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation).

On Friday morning, 80 children from the CM2 classes of the Calvi Loviconi school participated in the workshops. Mr Gareth Wittstock, Secretary General of the Princess Charlene of Monaco Foundation, presented each child with a certificate of initiation in lifesaving sports.

On Saturday morning, 50 children between the ages of 8 and 12 signed up to participate in a new round of water activities on the beach.

On Saturday, June 11th, the Port Xavier Colonna hosted several associations on the port and offered animations to the public:

The Water Safety Days in Calvi give the opportunity to children, as well as the public, to experience a comprehensive program to raise awareness of drowning prevention and environmental protection. This event is already a part of the local calendar and symbolizes the commitment of the Foundation and the City of Calvi in favour of aquatic education and the preservation of the marine environment.

The Princess Charlene of Monaco Foundation wishes to thank all the partners who made possible the 2nd edition of these activities:
