The Water Safety Day is back in Monaco for its 2023 edition, this Thursday, June 22nd on Larvotto Beach.

Since 2014, this event organized by the Princess Charlene of Monaco Foundation and the Académie Monégasque de la Mer aims to introduce lifesaving, water safety and first aid to children of the Principality.

In the presence of H.S.H. Princess Charlene of Monaco, more than 100 children from the 5th grade of Charles III College, 6th grade of the François D’Assise-Nicolas Barré Institution as well as CM2 students from the Ecole de la Condamine participated in the workshops led by Pierre Frolla, Ambassador of the Foundation and four-time freediving world record holder and his team from the Académie Monégasque de la Mer, with the support of the trainers of the Monaco Red Cross.

Fun and technical, the workshops are varied: Coastal rope rescue, Rescue inbouées tubes, Nipper Boards (rescue boards), Musical batons and CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation). New this year: an environmental and climate awareness workshop led by Sébastien Uscher.

The children also had the opportunity to meet champions of lifesaving and other sports, invited to supervise the workshops and share their experience as high-level athletes.

The presence of these champions reinforces the drowning prevention message and creates positive inspiration for children. At the end of the workshops, the celebrities participated in an Ocean Race:  Swimming, Relay Race on the Sand and Relay Rescue Paddle.
