Learn to Swim & Water Safety Campaign in Awutu-Bereku, Ghana
Led in partnership with the Princess Charlene of Monaco Foundation, the programme in Ghana expanded across the Awutu-Bereku region, reaching 1,229 participants through swimming lessons, water-safety education and community outreach.
With a strong focus on girls’ participation, over 600 girls took part, inspired by local role models such as former student turned instructor Rebecca Akpalu.
Children received up to 32 swimming lessons, building confidence, survival skills and awareness of water risks, while adults and youth were trained to become future instructors.
By integrating swimming into schools and empowering the local community, the programme continues to foster a culture of safety, inclusion and education through sport.
