The Impis and Umusa Shine at the Egg Chaser 7s 2025 in Darlington, England

In a celebration of talent, teamwork, and tenacity, both the Impis and Umusa teams emerged victorious at the prestigious Egg Chaser 7s tournament held in Darlington, England, during June 2025.

The Princess Charlene of Monaco Foundation proudly congratulates both teams on their remarkable performances on the field, standing behind them with continued support and pride.

The Impis and Umusa teams carry a rich and meaningful history. The Impis, meaning « warriors » in Zulu, were founded in 2017 by H.S.H. Princess Charlene of Monaco. Their first major outing was the internationally acclaimed Dubai 7s tournament, where they represented the Principality of Monaco with pride and determination.

In 2021, the Foundation extended its commitment to inclusivity and the promotion of sports by launching the Umusa team, whose name means « graceful » in Zulu. That same year marked a milestone as both men’s and women’s teams competed in Dubai, flying the colors of Monaco and embodying the core values championed by the Foundation: sportsmanship, solidarity, team spirit, and inclusion.

The triumph at the Egg Chaser 7s in 2025 is not only a testament to the skill and dedication of the players but also a reflection of the vision and values of the Princess Charlene of Monaco Foundation and the Monegasque Federation of Rugby, both of which are presided over by H.S.H Princess Charlene herself.

Through rugby, the Impis and Umusa teams continue to inspire unity, cultural exchange, and empowerment through sport on the global stage.
