Water Safety Day : State visit
On the occasion of President Emmanuel Macron’s State visit to the Principality, H.S.H. Princess Charlène of Monaco had the immense pleasure of welcoming Mrs Brigitte Macron to the Stade Louis II swimming pool this Sunday morning, for a highlight focusing on prevention and educational commitment.
Together, the two First Ladies attended Water Safety Day, the flagship event of the Princess Charlène of Monaco Foundation, which has been working for ten years to prevent drowning and raise awareness of water safety among the youngest members of society.
Under the guidance of Pierre Frolla and the teams from the Monegasque Maritime Academy, in collaboration with the Monegasque Red Cross, the National Education, Youth and Sports Department, the Monegasque Anti-Doping Committee and the Monegasque Association of Olympic Athletes, around a hundred pupils aged between 7 and 12 took part in practical workshops: cardiopulmonary resuscitation, aquatic relays, safety course…
This warm moment of sharing highlighted the mutual commitment of France and Monaco in the service of young people, prevention and solidarity, in a simple and sincere atmosphere.
“I would like to extend my heartfelt thanks to Mrs Brigitte Macron for being here with us today. Her kindness and attention to children give even greater strength to the message we are sending out. Learning to swim is learning to save oneself. It’s a right for every child, and a responsibility we all share.” “H.S.H. Princess Charlène of Monaco
The presence of Mrs Brigitte Macron underlined the importance of these concrete actions on the ground, particularly in France, through the Foundation’s programmes. Through her warmth and attentiveness, she also illustrated the special relationship between France and Monaco – a relationship nurtured by cooperation, trust and close human contact, in the service of universal issues.
