School swimming certificate ceremony in Sospel
On 25 September 2025, the school swimming certificate ceremony was held at the Sospel swimming pool to celebrate the progress made by some of the 429 schoolchildren who took swimming lessons this summer thanks to the Princess Charlene of Monaco Foundation.
Some pupils from the schools in Castillon and Sospel, as well as the CPA and CE1 classes. All of them were able to benefit from a swimming programme to learn essential skills for their safety in the water.
The ceremony was attended by Mr Gareth Wittstock and Ms Anne Boggio, respectively Secretary General and Director of the Foundation, as well as Mr Renaud Detoeuf, Deputy Head of School Affairs, Mr Rémi Besson, Representative of the PACA Swimming League, Ms Fabienne Avenoso, Municipal Councillor for the commune of Sospel, and lifeguards Mr Germain Vallais and Mr Nathan Poujade.
In a friendly atmosphere, Mr Wittstock willingly played along, taking on the role of lifeguard for a while, accompanied by the pool’s supervisory team.
This day provided an opportunity to recognise the children’s efforts and highlight the importance of learning to swim, an essential part of the Foundation’s mission to prevent drowning.
