Loumbila Multi-Disciplinary Training Centre

Depuis 2015

The Princess Charlene of Monaco Foundation supports the community development project at the Multi-Disciplinary Training Centre in Loumbila, Burkina Faso, managed locally by the Burkinabe Red Cross.

Co-financed by the Foundation, the Government of Monaco and the Monegasque Red Cross, this centre is designed to be a springboard for the economic and agricultural development of the town of Loumbila, and promotes various projects to support local life. It is equipped with a semi-Olympic swimming pool, changing rooms and a technical room to raise awareness among children and adults about safety in the aquatic environment.

The joint actions of the Burkinabe and Monegasque Red Cross aim to improve the living conditions of the local community, in this case by reducing the drowning risks around the Loumbila dam.

The Foundation funds swimming lessons for young people in the centre’s swimming pool, water rescue and first aid training for Loumbila fishermen, as well as first aid training camps in partnership with the Burkinabe Lifesaving Federation.

Project goals:

To improve the living conditions of the community of Loumbila near the Red Cross Training Centre.

To increase household incomes related to agro-pastoral activities and improve food security.

To reduce drowning risks around the Loumbila dam.

Expected results:

Improve family farm production and marketing.

Optimize family poultry production and its marketing.

Teach swimming to the children of the Departmental High School of Loumbila.

Sensitize members of Loumbila fishermen’s groups to the dangers of water.
